Terry,
in regards to boost spikes, from what's posted on this forum it appears the boost spikes experienced by some folks running another tune occurred during certain parts of the power band under certain conditions, and were also somewhat erratic. Much of this was uncovered through the use of boost gauges and data logging on multiple cars. It's also been implied that this same thing occurs on stock vehicles to a lesser degree. To what extent has monitoring been done with the JB2 line up to ensure that this is not occurring with your tune?

thanks,

BTW, this is an honest question and not a flame.

The JB offers a pretty smooth boost curve, with few spikes. Check out a recent testers boost curve (JonM) vs. a 2.02 boost curve:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...9&postcount=79

The fundamental difference is I prefer to let the factory ECU handle boost control. The way I see it BMW spent millions developing the system and resulting curve to be as smooth and spike free as possible. Why throw that out the window?

JBR alters air intake temp sensor to force the ECU to make more boost with less timing.

The v2.0.2beta boost curve wasn't running default boost pressures. It was adjusted on the dyno to account for the extra octane (boost above 5000rpm was cranked up). It does not represent the standard map. That was revealed earlier in the thread.

man some of you guys have no clue. If you turn the smoothing feature of the dyno software off it will look like an earthquake. Little bit of knowledge is so dangerous...

And people who run 93 octane constantly....

JB2 is for 91 - 93 octane
JB2H is for 93 octane or 91 octane w/DP's....
