I had a 325i when I came up with the fix. I believe it affects the majority of 325's, 328's, and 330's (3.0L N/A ones).

Did you guys clean your MAF sensor before install? That could have might have been all you needed to do.

Basically there is surging and a lack of power because the computer leans out the air/fuel mixture which is really detrimental to the life of the motor. Even if you don't have surging, your car might be running too lean. Others have tried cleaning and replacing the MAF and still had issues. It's not the car, it's the design of the AFE intake.

If the car is running too lean to hurt the motor then you would definitely get a CEL with a code. I have had the AFE intake on for a few months and haven't had any issues at all. Sounds like a V8 when you romp on it.

you can see how low the mas sits on the afe. look at your stock and see how much higher it is. once the space went on it ran like new. 325xi does sound sick when you punch it. just wish i could add even more power to the XI....

the best way is to buy one from someone on here or you can have it made from a machinist or who ever works on your car might be able. i would use aluminum it will last longer. check the first post for diagram..i paid $175 installed. look at your stock and see how much higher the MFS sits and then look to see what the difference is. i also had the throttle cleaned.

It is not magic! It's not like Afe is some company with a huge racing heritage. Not much engineering or testing goes into their products, they use the same cookie cutter technique for all cars: - Create a free flowing intake duct - Add a high flow filter - Apply Afe sticker - $$$$$ - Next car My $.02

I'm a new member want to get some posts in so I can PM. I recently bought an Afe intake for my 2006 325xi, and I saw this thread so I decided to also get a custom spacer, so I am looking forward to trying it out.

A lot of people get this intake for the sound, the sealed box would be much quieter

I call my spacer the "Tim Shim". Going on 1 year with the system and flawless performance with no fault codes. Thanks again Tim, hope all is well on your side of the fence.
