We can definitely correct this via software. Bob can fix all faults that occur due to deleting EGR.

Looking at getting a U.S. Spec 2017 X5d with the N57 engine soon. What if any options are available to increase power output on this platform? I have no interest in disabling any of the emission controls. Just looking to get closer to what an X540d offers.

Hi there, I recently got the tune done, and everything is great, it pulls amazingly well. Jess at Bohl Diesel took care of the exhaust by gutting it, and I am loving the acceleration as well as the sound.

I was wondering, though, if there was another issue with my car. When sitting idle on a hot summer day, it tends to blow out darkish smoke, leaving a haze of smoke after leaving a traffic light. The smoke isn't always there, especially after a cold start, but after it's been running a while, the smoke is always there.

Does this have to do with the computer seeing signs of heat soak and dumping in a bit extra diesel in order to keep the temps down, or is this something else? Can this be safely tuned out, or am I facing a different issue?

Like I said, the car pulls strong, no CEL comes on, and if I simply don't look behind me, there isn't an issue in the world, it returned 42 MPG on a long distance trip lately, and it pulls like a freight train.

Let me know what you think.

Hello Bob,

I already have your 2.5 tune with all deletes.

Now my 335d is having 58mm hybrid with w/m injection installed.

Would it be beneficial to do a stage 3 mafless tune ? What are the cons with deleting the maf?..I'd like to un-clutter that intake with a large open element!..and hopefully gaining some more hp/tq!

The smoke is from the enrichment map, seems like it needs to be back down on your tune. If you want it adjusted, send me a PM.

Yes, deleting the maf will result in more overall power, however, its not really recommend for day to day driving. The MAF allows the fuel maps to adapt overtime vs the smoke maps that are static. This means the fuel tables will not adjust do to weather and altitude.

As for doing a stage III or IV tune, yes, its recommended The tune has adjustments for boost, fuel and SOI (injector timing). Stage III and above are rated for 390 - 425rwhp

Hi Bob,

Just wondering if there was any update on this customer's progress with using the DEF tank for meth?

All the ones we have done inhouse have used the tank that comes with the kit. As far as I know, a lot of people talk about using the DEF tank and run into issues installing fittings.

I'll be tackling this myself later this year after returning from Raleigh. I have no idea what will be involved, but I'm sure the right combination of holes, plugs, tubing and bulkhead fittings will do the job quite nicely. I expect to use the small, or active DEF tank for W/M and convert the larger passive tank to an auxiliary fuel supply with transfer pump.

Stop, you're making me blush

So i'm using the larger passive tank and no fittings needed, just use the bottom port on it from the factory. It's small but I've tested flow volume at 1200+cc's of meth and no issues. We have another thread somewhere showing more details.....The active tank could probably be used but it's much lower in the car, not sure if that would matter depending on the suction of the pump....

That's awesome, I think I'd go for maximum 1000cc's of meth so that's perfect. I'll have to peruse through your threads to get more details on this.

EMISSIONS

Hello all,

I just want to make an update and answer a question that we get asked a lot.

Quote:
Does BPC's tune set readiness codes to "ready" for emissions testing?
The answer is No. Bimmer Performance Center is not in the business of helping someone to pass emissions testing. As noted on our website, and customers that call in, tunes we sell are for off road use only, Please visit the link below to check your states laws

http://www.semasan.com/page.asp?cont…sions&g=semaga

When a BPC tune is sold, an emissions waiver is needed to be signed before work can be done to the DDE/DME. If you do not agree, the DDE will be shipped back or handheld will be returned for a 20% restocking fee.

Hey guys,

We wanted to announce that our web store is up and functional now, please take a minute and check out our Diesel section. The tune's are listed and updated under the DME Tuning product.

Thank you for your continued support!

Will any of the various tunes increase longevity of the engine and reduce CBU? I want to have the first 335D that makes it to 500k.

Meth install, EGR delete, DPF delete, SCR delete. Issues gone. Good luck!

On any of their tunes you can have them tune it so the EGR valve stays closed, I'm going to do that when I get a tune from them
