Passenger Side Door Lock Failure
I just noticed that when remotely locking (or unlocking) my car, even pressing the button on the dash, my passenger side door doesn't respond.
The only way to lock it is by pressing the button down up by the window. To unlock, I have to pull the door lever from the inside. None of the other doors have the problem. Has this happened to anyone, or anyone know a solution? thanks!! |

If you're under CPO, take it to your dealer...
My gf had a similar problem with her X3, where the non-driver doors wouldn't unlock. It turned out to be the mechanics of the gas tank lock was messed up. It kept telling the vehicle the gas tank was locked (which it wasn't), so it wouldn't unlock the rest of the doors.

unfortunately, i'm not under CPO...
i guess as i read more, it can be a number of things (actuator, fuses). upon closer examination, the lock looks like it's trying to move ( like it's trying to lock/unlock) just can't complete the motion. all my other doors work, it's just that passenger side front door. what repairs did your girlfriend's X3 need to get fixed? just wondering what i'm getting myself into thanks! |

A small pricey project, depending on your skills, if you are pretty green when it comes to mechanical stuff, just see what your local dealer would charge and go from there. IMO
I hear that our rides are well known for this issue

I have similar issue that I am trying to take it in for warranty repair. I will let you know what they replace by Friday. Basically I can't unlock any of the doors with the keyfab or the button on the center of the dash. I have to use my emergency key to open the driver's door, but none of the passenger doors would open, even from the inside.
Once unlocked, I can lock the driver's side again by pushing either of the buttons. Weird.

Check out this thread, I've posted what the dealer fixed (two front door actuators plus the fuse). http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=391272

So, here is what I found. Apparently the actuators in the doors sometimes seize up. For me, only my front passenger door stopped responding.
I took it to BMW and they sold me a set of actuators for $105, plus $325 for labor. They only installed the one that needed fixing, so I have an extra one in the trunk in case the other one goes. It came to $460 or so total. I wasn't going to spend the cash, but I figured I was already in for the oil change, and I might as well get it taken care of. |

Door Lock Failure
My door locks failed today. Can not lock or unlock with remote or button on dash. Only door I can open is driver's door, none of the other dorrs can be openend from inside or outside. Need key to lock or unlock driver's door. Car still under warranty (by 2 months). Taking car to dealer tomorrow. sounds like this is common problem.

Fuse in the glovebox bloes. Its a 15 amp in #57. Replace with a 20 amp if blown. If not blown then that door lock actuator failed and needs to be replaced. The latch and lock are 1 part and are regular failures

Door Lock Failure
Just got back from dealer with doors that unlock and open. Right front door actuator was bad; they replaced both front door actuators with beefed up units. According to SA they have not experienced rear door actuators failing. Also replaced blown fuse number 57 with larger 20 amp fuse. Work done under warranty with 45,000 miles on car. They also hecked fuse number 56 as part of procedure, but that fuse was good and not replaced.

Unfortunately, I'm out of warranty. I only have the problem with my passenger door. Would it be ok to only replace the failed actuator (passenger door)?

Same problem but with driver-side door only. Started in August and then 2 weeks ago the lock began responding again. Go figure

Rear door doesn't lock/unlock
I have this problem since I bought the car (2 months ago), no warranty. The thing is that when I open this door no interior lights come on, it is like something is disconnected. Any idea?...

I forget the part number but if you ask for the kit to fix doors it's cheaper than just asking for actuators.
