Is there a benefit to higher end coilovers for daily driver
Hi All,
Just wondering if there is any benefit to higher end coilovers for a daily driver Looking at kv1s, BC RC, and St. But will spend the money if there is a benefit with say kv2s or kv3s or even Ohlins Car will not be tracked Thanks for the help |

If you not going to track the car what benefits do you think higher end coilovers might deliver for a daily driver?

Well, there is that. I'm kinda stumped even then cuz it isn't really something that's visible or usable on the street without being dangerous so maybe there's something else the op is thinking of. Can't imagine what it is cuz it can't be increased comfort. Maybe just for lowering for looks?

The rare Sachs coil overs go quite low on highest settings and they are good quality kits. So I think. It's mfg case by case

But Sachs is also an ently level, cheap strut/shocks. Start with our BMW's struts/shocks where Sachs is next cheapest after KYB. I woulnd not consider them on my car, even if it was an old beater as they aren't really good. From my experience I can tell you that they don't last long so it won't justify the labor instaling them

I'd say the OP probably wants freedom to finely adjust how he wants (I dont want to slam my car but the Eibachs that are on it atm are too high at the front), and because he's not tracking it he wants high quality for the comfort. No point buying cheap coilovers at a detriment to ride quality. The OP knows he wants coilovers, and is wondering if the higher priced brands would offer any advantages for his use (i.e. street) or solely beneficial to track drivers.

KW/ST go pretty low from what I've seen. Broadway Static seems to be coilover that goes the lowest for the E9X platform.
BC's are what I'm looking at because I want the dampening adjustability and I don't have the money to shell out for the high end coilovers. From what I've read, BC's are great for the price but they wont ever be as good as the high end coilovers. I won't be tracking my car either. If you have the money to shell out for the high end coilovers, I would say get them. While you might not track the car, having the dampening adjustability will be nice for the days you feel more spirited. A member on here started with BC's then moved to Ohlins and is now on KW Street Comfort and he says those are the best so far. He said Ohlins were great too but rusted on him. I think the rust issue was fixed though.

Same dilemma here. Looking for a better set up than my current sport suspensions for spirited driving but not into the stance scene so trying to figure out whether I should go with something like the SC or just a good set of struts/lowering springs since I'm not tracking my car. More planted feel and handling, comfortable ride, get rid of the front wheel gap are what I'm looking for. Fast side to side transition on stock sport suspensions tends to make me very nervous.

What about blisteins?.... Honestly i would love if tein would make some super streets for this platform, not the lowest coils but def most durable suspension brand i know... Had tein coils on previous cars with over 40k miles on em and could just go adjust em like it only had 1mile on em

It sounds like the KW Street Comfort is probably the coilover the op is looking for. I believe cvc 22349a has them in his car and he's using it as a daily driver with good results.

And I have also heard very good things about the KW Street comfort. That's probably what I'd be on if I had no plans to track the car |

The benefit is just the adjustability really. You might want to tweak the ride height and damping to suit you and the roads you drive on.
I have KW V2s. Haven't touched their setup, it's been at whatever the last owner left them at - which is about their max height and the damping seems to be at a good setting so haven't touched that either. Was considering going softer until I switched from runflats, then discovered that horrible harshness was only due to the 19 inch runflats... Note the max setting on the KWs is still a good bit lower than stock. 3cm in the front and 2.5cm in the rear compared to MSport... |

I just installed BCs and I'm happy with them. What makes them an especially good value is that the fronts are pre-assembled with the camber adjustable top mounts so there is no need for a spring compressor. Makes for a much faster install. They go so low that the car would be un-driveable. No real noise complaints, I can hear minor "clunking" at low speeds over uneven bumps but I think it's the sway bar end links, I probably need to adjust them on a lift rather than ramps.
I have them set at 10 clicks from soft in the front and 12 from soft in the rear and my wife hasn't complained or even mentioned anything with regards to ride quality. I can feel it obviously but it's her I was worried about. |

I considered about getting BC's as well because of all the options that they offer for under $1000. I had a friend who had it on his E90 said there was a clunk sound from the coils. Might consider going with KW V2's on Black Friday since it'll be cheaper.

The REAL question to ask is, is there benefits to coil-overs for a daily driver, PERIOD.
Once you answer that honestly, then you can ask if going to a high end coil-over has additional benefits.
