The tender for Li-ion battery is apparently different and I thought it is a good idea to get it in case I need to load tune or if I go on a longer vacation.

Bump for updates from members, I am debating removing sunroof for carbon fiber roof to cut down on weight. 2009 E90 Would like to TRY to get down to 3400-3500lbs at 650-700whp should be enough .

When will we see the "next level" of weight reduction become common for the e9x and e8x chassis?
Have many people already started gutting them to e46, e36 levels? How soon before its common to see these (already) track threats rolling through the paddock without AC, door cards, sound deadening, Lexan, etc? It's still a nice, modern luxury car, but when you can pick one up for low $20k add reasonable suspension, breaks, wide tires and easily tune to big numbers, the temptation to get the weight down even further has to be real...I know it is for me. |

I involved in a project that will have some exciting new toys for the e36 and e82 guys later this year. I'm toying with the idea of getting out of the 1er into a 3 and doing just that. Not sure what area you're in but would love to see what they feel like on that kind of diet. Good luck with the build! Or at this point, the deconstruction. Jason

Here're a couple of threads on the build http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1010489 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1010510 We're expecting to come in under the min weight with the full cage (to be completed this coming winter), gutting the front of the cabin, and removing the passenger race shell, etc. Haven't driven it yet but am expecting it to be just as track-specific as it was before since the roling chassis was modified to its current state, less latest brake incarnation, back in '14. Good luck with your project, too, sounds like fun. Definitely deconstruction, definitely...

I am thinking about deleting my sunroof as well, please tell me if it's worth it. Loosing that top-heavy weight make any difference in handling??

OK:
I am currently at 560whp, noticed that on track the weight is heavy on the front brakes, and the top-end weight makes it a little hard to get through the corner at certain speeds. My solution so far came to a cf hood and deleting the sunroof, trying to shed the top-end and nose weight. Any feedback for those who have done this would be great! Also, has anyone installed the challenge cf doors?

Anyone had replaced an ordinary steel bumper brace with one from e92 M3 (carbon fiber)? Does it fit with M or standard bumpers? I am about to switch the rear one to M tech, might be a time to change the brace/support member or however you call that thing...

I have a stripped bare Pre-LCI e90 in the shop right now. If anyone needs any parts weighted, let me know. I have a crane scale with a 660lb capacity, probably not super accurate under 10lbs.
FWIW, my goal is 2500lb dry weight, caged. |

Car is a slick-top (no sunroof) 2006 325i with auto transmission.
Rear Subframe + Mounting Hardware (with all bushings) - 51.1 lb Rear Control Arms (one side, with hardware) - 18.7 lb Rear Differential (automatic transmission, with fluid) - 71.4 lb Sound Deadening and Roof Insulation (slicktop chassis) - 21 lb Bare Chassis with front subframe, latches, and rear glass (sound deadening removed) - *839 lb *the car is sitting on four axle stands under the OEM jack points. I lifted one side at a time from a strap attached to the door strikers; driver side was 420 lb, passenger side was 419 lb. Not 100% sure if this method would be entirely accurate, but I can't see why not. Last edited by Justin Daniels; 03-25-2019 at 10:25 PM.. |

Front Subframe - 21 lb
Which means the almost bare chassis, in the following state, weighs 818 lb : - Rear glass still installed - All four doors with latches but no glass/track/mirrors. - Other than that, absolutely everything removed that didn't require cutting - Sound deadening removed - No hood - No bumpers - No trunk - No bumper reinforcement - Starting to get the idea? 2383lb E93 M3 mirror But when they are off they seem to be VERY off so I guess it could be an valid resource for weights! Sometimes it's nice to have a weight of an assembly without having to tally up all of the component weights (seats for instance). Last edited by Justin Daniels; 01-31-2020 at 09:35 AM.. |

Has anyone gotten the sunroof delete offered by Nelsonracing? Looks amazing and you cut down on 33 pounds up top.
