I ordered a spacer too.. for test purposes and for an extra testimonial (seeing as I'm playing the devils advocate). I will report my findings once I receive it.
Did you have many of these made or do you have to go get one made each time someone orders it, Tim? |

I call and place an order for one each time someone wants one, since this is a fix i have no idea how many people will buy them so i cant really justify getting a bunch made w/o knowing if I can sell them all. My manufacturer usually has pretty quick turn around though.

I'm still on the fence about doing this to my 330xi Since I haven't noticed any noticeable problems like every one else. I just installed the scoops on so wonder if I will notice anything now.

I wouldnt say any "noticeable" problems were found but I know the intake can definitely perform better. The only thing this will do is help and in this situation, benefits will definitely come

Whats funny is I had this intake on for years and when I put my stock airbox I felt like the car was a bit faster. It didn't hear as awesome ( I have full exhaust no cats ) but it did its job.

I felt the same way once I put the spacer on, the car definitely feels faster and much smoother now. I think aFe definately effed up the placement of the MAF sensor

Just finished installing. I think an o ring fell in the intake tube, proceeded to drop my screwdriver while tightening the sensor and took 20 minutes to get. My sensor probably got dirty and my silicone tube wouldn't work so I applied it both pre and post installation with my finger. Overall pain in the ass but I haven't driven yet. I want to know if its safe to drive ):. By the way, I'm super clumsy so I'm sure none of this will happen to anyone else. Will keep you guys posted.

Driving as we speak. Definitely better than before. Big difference actually. Amazing compared to before the spacer. To those who say its a placebo, it's the best placebo I ever had. I have some silicone on my maf and there little no surging right after install without cleaning the sensor. Throttle is much better. Overall pulls much better. Well worth the 60$

I have an update with this spacer business. As some of you may have read, I seem like the biggest skeptic of them all. So here's my review.
So I just received my Spacer (thanks Tim) - I did a quick install of it (no silicone/screws didn't even tighten all the way in. But it seemed snug and snappy. After install there were no lights.. no rev's bouncing around too much and the car is happy to accept the new MAF height. 1st gear - I was thrown back in my seat like I haven't felt in a LONG time 2nd gear - ZERO lag - pulls STRONGLY all the way from 2K to 5K.. NO SURGING 3rd gear - I'm already speeding at this point but the pull is still quite strong. So.. uh... it works.. surprisingly. The noise has changed as well for the better, you can hear the intake working harder. I have no idea how this little thing makes such a HUGE difference on the car but it just does. It's changed it completely. I literally had 40% power between 1-4K before and huge power surge after but if I were to run side by side with my cars ghost (without the spacer) I would absolutely demolish it now. I'm stunned. Thanks Tim! Contact AFE about this ASAP |

However, I did sell my intake last night spacer and all, (I'm selling my car this week hopefully).. it's time for some twin turbo fun. But one thing I did notice with the stock airbox/charcoal delete/k&N drop in/scoops, was that this setup was noticeably faster. I don't know if it's all just placebo or if my mind is playing tricks on me but the car is fast as shit without the intake. Wasn't expecting this at all to be honest. I actually got the TCS light going WOT into 2nd gear in a straight line. |
