Sorry for the late post, but here's the question: what performance gains did you see by installing headers on N52? I, too, consider this a mod worth checking into, but I'd like some recent feedback from folks who installed headers. Did you have to re-tune the car computer? Where did you get ceramic coating done & how much does that cost? Are there low-end gains.....the kind that lets you merge on the freeway with a lead foot? Thanks for any info.

Get the ceramic coating. I might actually take em off and do it one day. They run pretty hot compared to the stock headers. You don't have to retune the computer, but it's recommended. I haven't done it yet but I'm about to buy AA's tune.(they are going to give me a free tune for when I put a 3 stage intake manifold on, can't go wrong it seems) The computer actually does learn(?) a bit and the car has gotten faster over time. Uhhhh, you lose low end torque. I was able to chrip tires pretty hard at 4k rpm without headers and now there's no way in hell I could chirp my tires going into second(when I do it's accidental) I think I would do it again. It's a cool mod. Wait around for sales (or maybe a really good used deal) I paid like 30 bucks for gaskets and bolts, and that's after reusing the header-midpipe gasket. I have nothing but a charcoal delete and headers. My car is absolutely faster. I don't know how much though :s |

FWIW, won't be dyno'ing until after the LSD is broken in. Could be a while.

What? Whose?
I knew you had bpc, but something tells me that you are installing headers on. My question was more in realm of: If you are doing headers are you still sticking with BPC, or trying something new. If something new, what is it? |

That'd be BPC. Trust me.

You'll need to check with them for the going price for the tune and Simon tool.

I have been looking to put in my AA header for a while now, but keep comingback to this forum and what annoys me is that anywere I try to look for the full set of bolts, nuts, screws, they are always different and even realoem shows non matching parts. If someone that has fully replaced a header can give me a list of the nuts, bolts, and SCREWS/STUDS that would be great as I dont want to reuse the studs/screws that are currently in there I want to have new ones, please just list ALL the screw, nuts, bolts needed for this and not just part thank you ill be forever in your debt.

Stud: 11127593376 I bought a bag of the nuts off of amazon for a few bucks. Only 3 or so studs backed out for me and i just reused them, but maybe buy 10 or so preventatively if you're worried about it. You'll probably want all the exhaust gaskets. You'll also want an o2 sensor socket(make sure it's the right size) and you might have to buy a different sized ratchet to get some of the very hard to reach header bolts. |
