IDrive Logic 7 no sound, pops and crackles.
Yesterday I had no audio when I started my car. The noises that came out were just very loud pops and crackles. Any idea what happened? My stereo was always great before. It does this whether the radio is on or off, any source setting. Radio, CD, Music Collection, any mode. It even kept popping after turning the car off and closing the door. It only stopped when I used the remote to lock the doors.
P. S. I swapped from CCC to CIC and added bluetooth about a year ago and have had no issues. |

Yeah, it has been raining for 3 days here and mine is a convertible. I worry that is what happened. I didn't see water from above when I opened the trunk. I need more time to remove all the plastic pieces to get to the amp. I may make a umbrella shield above it just in case water leaks in if it hasn't already.

Thanks CTUNA and everyone who responded.
It was in fact water that got into my trunk. It was just high enough to hit the connectors at the amp. I dried the area out and it looked pretty clean down there so I assume this has not been a constant thing. I recently replaced my dented trunk lid so I plan to check that seal at the top and of course clean out all my front and rear drip/drain tubes. I opened and closed the top a couple times and I can see that the valves with pins seem to align properly into their holes. I will probably wait for a sunny day and run a garden hose on the trunk and roof with my wireless boroscope looking at possible water entry points. For now I am lucky my amp survived. |

Location for that amp is lame they should at least put it on stilts.
I suggest you review all those links on drains and seals. In the meantime keep in a garage if you can. Last edited by ctuna; 09-21-2020 at 10:38 PM.. |

I already ordered a trombone brush to clean the drain tubes and I am going to pull my drains etc. That has to wait since I just broke my rear differential so at least it is in the garage.
