Any Stereo Installers in Dallas?

Anyone know any decent stereo installers in DFW area that are familiar with the BMW platform?

I am looking to get the Helix P SIX DSP and I need someone to help me install it / configure it.

I have a E60 2008 with Hifi.

You will need some better speakers with that

You will need some better speakers with that
You might want to get a package from Unexpected Creations
since they rep Helix and Jehnert.
Be careful with finding a shop a lot of them don't really know BMW's
You might consider DIY if you are somewhat skilled mechanically and
electrically.

I will upgrade the speakers as well. I can do the install if need be, but I have very little experience in a proper setup for the DSP.

I would think Unexpected Creations

I would think Unexpected Creations
would give you starter files with the basic settings.

Also there is some good DIY info on setup at DIYmobileaudio.

http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...-tune-dsp.html

the above diy uses a helix.

I am also trying to figure out the best way to wire the inputs.

I know the E60 hifi amp only powers 2 of the underseat woofers and the rest are run of the head unit.

So I have 4 high pass speaker level outputs from headunit for front and rear and 2 low level balanced outputs for the factory amp.

Is there a way to get full range output out of the factory E60 CCC unit? I saw the E90 hifi uses a real 6 channel amp and 4 channel full range output out of the head unit. Is the CCC unit hardware the same between them or is it different?

I originally wanted to use the Match PP 82DSP, but don't know how to get 4 full range inputs.

I thought the 5 series used the same setup

I thought the 5 series used the same setups
as the 3 series. (The three basic system types)
It was only the older 7 series that
had distributed amp locations.
So in 08 I would guess you would have either Hi FI
or top hi fi L7.
In which case coding would be the same .
And a Technic harness should still work you might want to
talk to Technic about this.

No diagram in the link.

No diagram in the link.
Are you sure you are pulling the diagram for your model year.

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=460954

Do you have pictures and part number of the trunk amp.

What is the option number for your stereo . 676 maybe or 677.

I just rechecked with my copy of ISTA/D and the wiring diagram is the same as I posted.

2 channel amp only, no tweeters in the rear shelf just 4 inch mids.

The 2010 E60 hifi is the same as e90 hifi with a real 6 channel amp and full range low level outputs from the CIC headunit.

No diagram posted.

No diagram posted
Check your amp an post a picture.
Also this is the e90 stereo subforum so if it differs
only the experts will really know.

Also you indicated you had an 08 in the first post .
They did the base stereo in the e90 2010 so they could have done it in the
e60 to.
The 2010 e90 did not get Hi Fi it got base stereo so if you are looking
at the wrong year diagram it could be misleading.

I posted on the e90 due to more people visiting it.

I have a 2008 E60 hifi. I was saying the 2010 model year is like the e90 config, the earlier e60's like mine have a different setup.

Here is what my amp looks like.

Harness won't help, there is no way to get low level full range output out of the head unit.

I talked to technic and he said to code the head unit to Stereo and use full range speaker level front output and high pass rear speaker level output into a P82DSP.

I thought both the new Helix Units would take

I thought both the new Helix Units would take
both Speaker Level and Low level Inputs.
82dsp and 6 dsp.
And the DSP should be capable of correcting any kind of Inputs.

They do, but i am sure low level inputs that are full range would be ideal.

I think that is up for discussion

I think that is up for discussion
but it makes sense to me you shouldn't drive and amp or preamp
with speaker levels if you can avoid it.
Isn't the CCC at least the same between the 3 and 5 series.
So if it you can change output levels on the CCC you should
still be able to use those. Its just a matter of where you physically
pull the signals out .

One of the big ideas behind the DSP is you can correct the eq in factory systems.

That is the big problem, the CCC is not the same. They are using much older CCC unit in the 5 series that was first released around 2003, vs the 3 series getting a much newer unit.

The 3 series CCC can be coded to give you low level full range output, the 5 series CCC cannot.

The CCC in the 5 series has 3 modes.

Basic, Hifi and L7

Basic gives you speaker outputs, hifi gives you hybrid speaker output and 2 channel for sub amp and L7 uses fiber output.

So it looks like you are stuck with speaker outs

So it looks like you are stuck with speaker outs
at least on the door and rear deck speakers.

There is always level converters but I don't see the point
if the Helix will do it.

You might try bmwcoders.com to see if there is anybody with extreme
coding experience that could hack it.

I think I will just do the speaker level outputs for now and eventually upgrade to a CIC navigation that can be coded to supply the low level full range outputs.
