Ram Scoop for 328i
Hi guys, i hope this is the right forum, since i hope it's a power related question.
I'm looking for cost effective mods that i can do to my car to turn it into my sweetheart, lol.. Jokes aside, or maybe this is an even bigger joke... does air scoops actually help to force air into your engine? https://www.ebay.ca/itm/AF-Dynamic-A...dZuaDw&vxp=mtr |

You are looking at a massive gain of like .001HP
You know what pushes more air into an engine? A turbo. |

I personally agree that the scoops aren't worth it, but what's with all the 335 guys trolling in here lately?? I don't go into your sub-forums and constantly joke about all of the reliability issues you guys seem to have lol...
OP, if you're looking for cost-effective mods, do some searching and reading around here in this sub-forum. Plenty of info. Start by looking at intake mods: for some time and effort plus $60 you can pick up about 10 or so WHP. |

If you think you can gain 10HP from a intake mod than I got a bridge over in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you. Only other mod that will give you a few HP is the BMW performance exhaust. I had it on my car as well; I believe BMW site stated it gave an extra 4 or 6HP. |

Before and after dyno showed about 10% hp Hain at the wheel, and way smoother power delivery throughout. His 2k to 3k power was doubled over unmodded intake. That is a 100% gain in power for the range that my car is commonly accelerating through. His experience has provided valuable insight into what i can expect out of simple modifications. He also did a charcoal delete mod... There is plenty people can do to their e90's that isn't expensive to get tangible returns. Last edited by Pinscher; 03-30-2018 at 02:12 AM.. |

Sorry that you are not getting the answers here that YOU want to hear. Given the fact that my 328 was tuned and I did a lot of the work myself means that I probably know a lot more than you do when it comes to this topic. The fact that you would come here and tell us that you can gain 10% HP at the wheels from some piping is utterly hilarious; I mean that's like what a gain of about 20HP. Dude you are seriously delusional. |

No, you don't need to upgrade a bunch of other stuff for a 3 stage to work. the 330i is almost completely identical to the 328i, yet it makes ~30 more hp with just the 3-stage manifold and stock 330i tune. You don't need an AA tune either, unless you want the extra 5hp..

Btw, The dyno charts I'm talking about are located on the forums e90 mods section. And pictures are provided. It isn't my fantasy bro. The mods i mentioned were the Smooth silicone pipe, air from below the radiator and charcoal filter delete. Did you want me to go find the thread for you? I really don't get how someone as wise as you is so sour. There has to be a better way. Last edited by Pinscher; 03-30-2018 at 02:32 AM.. |

Simplyb put, this is what my pre purchase research turned up.
It seems turbo cars put more than enough strain on the engines to give them a reputation of being less reliable then naturally aspirated 328. I've no personal experience on this matter. |
