Manual for the shifter I got from Germany shows the shifter facing backwards when installed in the car. Picture of justpetes car shows the shifter installed facing forward. I wasn’t sure which way to install it so I asked CAE. I was told to install shifter facing backwards for access to adjustment screws. What was the reason for installing it the other way?

Take a close look and you'll see it won't fit without permanently removing the console trim piece. It works fine as it is and there were no problems adjusting it. The trim piece comes off easily enough should further adjustments be necessary.

We knew it was going on backwards but the design is fully symmetric and it doesn't matter to the shifter's actual operation.

[edit] I should add that eventually the interior will be partially stripped out and the center console and trim piece will go. At that point the shifter will be reinstalled in the correct orientation. It'll be a while though, it's still my daily for the foreseeable future [/edit]

I didn’t have the spring either on 08 E92. I think it's only on 335i. Getting the plastic pin out was PITA.
Completely missed this, sorry. Can't remember how I stumbled across it but it's good hearing you found it as interesting, you're most welcome! It really is built like a tank. And costs like one too but ya get what ya pay for. Mostly. Certainly true in this instance.

BTW, have you ever used a clutch with the over-center spring? I'm wondering now exactly what it might offer and if it wouldn't help to add it.

No I didn’t and have no idea what’s its purpose. This spring is on 335i and 135i.

What's the fill on that fire suppression? I ask because I know the dry chemical ones are pretty corrosive.

The Safecraft RS5 fire suppression system bottle in the trunk is 5# of FE-36. The Purple K handheld extinguisher is 2.5# and generally meant for use outside the car.

Carbon fiber plate finally got fabricated and installed. Doesn't look too bad really. The FK Bearing ball ends in the RE toe arms got replaced with the Aurora Performance Race parts at the same time. Took a look at the FK Bearing ball ends when I got home and they were already starting to get loose, well three out of four. Amazing how crappy they are.

Tools not included...

Added tow stickers as well with Turner Motorsports tow straps due in tomorrow. They'll get installed and the covers put back on, I'm assuming they'll fit tucked back behind the bumper until needed.

Any chance you can add a photo to one of your relevant threads about the Aurora joints?
Are they a universal product - can one add it to a set of non RE arms

The parts used are Aurora PRM-10T and PRB-10T with 5/8x18 shanks. Here's the link to the page at Pegasus:

https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pr...roduct=AB-PRMT

Aurora's page has a downloadable catalog that contains more information.

And here's the link to their page for Seals-It seals:

https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pr...oduct=3077-001

And Seals-It has their own site where you can order direct if that matters.

Crawled under the car and grabbed this pic with the phone, not great but should be enough detail I think. The safety retaining washers that came with the RE parts were reused for the required spacing.

Those are AN check nuts from Pegasus as well, here's their page for them:

Finally my shifter is installed. I wanted to install the shifter same way as justpete, however, my mechanic installed it the other way (facing forward). His reason was that the console wouldn’t fit. I have to get ride of the ashtray and modify the central trim to make it fit.

Shifting is extremely short and precise. I will have to get use to it.

I experimented with several springs on the ultimate clutch pedal. Maybe it’s me but I can’t see any difference.

It comes without spring. Original 325i, 328i and 330i clutch doesn’t have spring.

I think it's supposed to use the over-center spring assembly as found in the 335. It has to be adjusted to a specific preload, etc., but I wouldn't know the details. The parts themselves can be found in RealOEM. It's supposed to linearize the force requirements on the clutch pedal which makes it somewhat more difficult to sense the pressure point. Found some recommendations to simply remove it. I still don't have one installed and am not sure it'd help at all given the feel of the CM 850 clutch.

Nice install btw! At least it's not azzbackards like mine.

I’m getting used console trim from ebay because I don’t want to butch my original trim. I have to fill the ashtray opening, cut it and wrap the whole thing in CF. I will post a picture when I’m done.

Yeah, cams are the catch. Not if dumping valvetronic, etc., etc. but gotta hang on to the stock DME for the time being.

Funny you should ask about alignment. Was at the shop for a few hours today going through cage and chassis stiffening, etc., etc. and how they do alignment and all that. So the toe is set to 1/16" total in for the rear and 1/16" total out for the front. Camber is maxed out at -3.8* in front and -2.5* in back. Caster is 7* but I don't know exactly what SAI is right offhand. I did ask if the scrub radius was maintained as stable for the car and was told it was. Feels correct anyway. Bumpsteer is nonexistent as far as I can tell.

Did you swing the camber out with the swingarm eccentrics after the stock alignment was done? Do you have adjustable toe arms?
