Has anyone installed - or is anyone considering gauges like these?

I've thought about doing one for coolant temp and boost but am very bad with that kind of thing and have no clue how to even begin installing.

I was thinking about temp, Oil pressure, and relocating my Meth controller....since it already measures boot level....

I have seen the P3 digital gauges that integrate into the vent. If not so pricey, that is what I would want.

I have the p3. I tried to order the maxed out version but they told me it would not work. I just have the boost/ voltage version and I love it.
I put my snow meth controller in the pocket above the shifter. It's pretty useless because there is no way I would be able to go full throttle and focus on it at the same time. Boost and meth need to be closer to eye line. Oil water and voltage can be put lower imho. |

These seem pretty legit, somewhat out of the way.
Yeah I haven't tackled it yet either, all the wiring seems laborious. I'm pulling readings with torque right now.. |

I believe a low-side fuel pressure gauge is the most important monitor to have on a diesel. Lots of weird, hard-to-diagnose problems get traced back to fuel supply issues.

Just for reference, Stack Pro Control gauges in a Macht Schnell dash.
Left to right: EGT thermocouple is mounted in a boss welded to the #6 cyl header about four inches down the pipe. Oil temp from a sensor in the LSD with both control outputs running the diff cooler pump and fan. Fuel rail pressure which required welding a Vibrant boss into the rail. PLX DM-6 with AFR, sensor mounted to boss welded into one of the header collectors. Also provides voltage readout. Wired into the Race Technology DL1Mk3 logger which provides the power. Wiring harness was a pita and it's tight in the console. The short toggle switch sets the gauge illumination low, off, or high. Sensor wires go through the firewall at the steering column, iirc.

The vent gauges are slick. If only it would support advanced functionality for the diesels ...

I use the Torque Pro App on Android(Don't remember cost, no more than $5), and a generic OBD to Bluetooth adapter I got off Newegg($15). From there I just customize the app however I want with whatever gauges I want. Phone is mounted to a magnetic mount I insert into the CD drive. Got it on amazon for like $12. If you have an iPhone it's the same basic process. I don't think they can do OBD to Bluetooth though. You might only be able to do it over WiFi. Honestly, a boring android phone is cheap and you can use it only for gauges.

Caution on A-Pillar
It appears the airbags in the A-pillar would make the gauges become instant projectiles aimed at the drivers head should you mount gauges there and then the airbags deploy in a collision. I have seen/read other posts outside the diesel specific forum about this idea.

I changed to this method. Only downside is the adhesive will need to be replaced every 7 months or so, becomes a little weak. |
