What's wrong with 18" PS-7 or EC-7?

Weird, I have the exactly opposite opinion, always thought ARC-8 looks a little funny on the e92... But anyway, if you want 18inch square setup, you are stuck with EC/PS-7.

Im running an 18x9.5 with a 255/35 Michelin PSS and am probably lower than most on this board. I also have an e92 with our plastic fenders. Clearance is no issue. Im running -2.9 up front but I honestly could get away with less negative camber.

On my car, with -3.0 front camber,M3 arms ,and mildly lowered on TC K DA coilovers with Vorshlag plates, I have a slight rub on the front outer fender lip with 265/35r18 hankook r-s3 tires on 18x9 et30. The clearance between the tire and the strut is very minimal as well with less than 5mm of room left. Anything more, such as going with the wheel setup you suggested, will probably ruin the fender or cause rubbing on the strut, depending on the offset. What's your offset by the way? Not sure how your car is different, but I think the general consensus here is 18x9 et30 is the best track able front wheel setup for e92. |

Stock Control Arms, but I will probably upgrade those sometime soon. If you are on the fence about it, you can definitely do it. I have tons of outer room for spare and havent had an issue.

Apex 18x9.5 et25 yields identical strut clearance with Apex 18x9 et31 but will be closer to the fender 18mm which hinders the possibility of running a wider tire because most likely it will rub, even with aggressive camber would rub the inner fender liner when turning, especially your oil cooler grills. |

I agree, fits the car nicely and the tire selection is good. The car is heavy and needs proper brakes to stop it when running truck tires, particularly R-comp. so I don't see how bigger brakes would fit under 17" from above posts. 18" Apex are know to clear 380mm BkK where as 17" are good only for stock size brakes. Additionally, I find the bulky balloon like tires on the 17" kind of off road style looking.

Me too! I think arc-8 is so e36 chassis, not even e46, looks off to me on e9x, but hey, I must accept that looks are subjective.

The 17" arc-8's were expressly designed to clear the stoptech 355mm bbk (18" were designed to clear 380). I run the 355 kit which is the non - M bbk size and everything works as advertised.

Respectfully 355mm doesn't qualify as bbk on a car that uses 345mm as stock. I'm sure all works as advertised but sizewise the increase is negligible.

Thanks for this, had no idea. The ARC-8s were on sale and iirc the correct offset to be close to stock at the time. Would go with Forgeline to get rid of the spacers if I had to do it again and if I'd went with the Stoptechs instead of modifying stock brakes.

No need for a pissing match guys.
My definition of a bbk is: two piece rotors, fixed multi-piston calipers with high temp dust boot material, and extreme fade resistance. Size isn't the only determining factor imo, particularly if the kit is doing its job and never fading. As my 355 kit fits that description for me on the track, it's a bbk as far as I'm concerned. |
