You need to take a little better care of that thing lol. A few minutes would make the lights 10x better.

I got tired of gluing the stupid plastic air filter housing clips back on, so I ordered a new housing from FCP Euro. I bet they'll break again.

Well it's more like what *didn't* I do to my car today.
My 2007 328xi has 175,000 miles. I love the car, but after "upgrading" to Bilstein B8s and Eibachs it seems the rest of the rear suspension has shown its weak points. At speed the rear end kinda wags and hops over bumps while turning. The car's rear end just doesn't feel planted. The shock mounts are new, so I figured it was the bushings in at least some of the control arms. I ordered the four piece control arm kit from FCP Euro. I knew the nuts and bolts and components were rusty but holy crap I think everything has fused together (the car has lived its entire life in NJ/NY/CT). People have commented on other subforms that it's the subframe bushings. One shop I called in Queens, NY (Bimmer Motors) said it wasn't, and other shop in Queens, NY called The Stance Shop quoted $1,000 for the job. Blaster penetrating spray didn't do anything. a) I can't get the nuts and bolts loose b) YouTube makes DIY work look easier than it is (sometimes) I think I'm going to give up and return the parts and just deal with the wagging which I will hate until the day this car craps out (which it won't because I keep putting money into it). |

Break time, next up is clay lube.

I put on new OE windshield wipers. They're definitely made by Valeo. They're nearly identical to the Valeos I took off.
I also changed the oil in our Impreza hatch using an oil extractor. Holy shit that thing is the best. I wish I could use it on the BMW. Easiest oil change I've ever done. |

Got engine management light on today on the motorway. Lots of juddering. Crawled to a mechanic, fault code read the following see image. Ordered new Bosch spark plugs. Part of the Coil in cylinder 3 didn't all come out so it wedged around the spark plug making it hard to reach. Took hours to get it all out. Finally did. Misfire gone but now I'm getting a rough idle. RPM needle bobbing between 500 and 600. Light touch on the accelerator, same sputter only nowhere near as bad as this morning but stiiiiiiilll

Requesting permission to sub-topic the rebuild of the frame on my H3T. If it pleases the Court, errr...and if anyone is interested, today begins the restoration of the rusted-to-shit rear section of the frame. The rust is to the point the rear spring shackles are about to break loose from the frame rails. Swiss cheese has less holes than the rear of the Hummer's frame. I'm actually afraid to drive it.
Anyway, I have to remove the pickup box to expose the frame. I have a guy that specializes in frame restorations (he's done 60 Toyotas - LOL). So hopefully he can start on it in a few weeks. I've removed the bolts that hold the box to the frame and wiring harnesses are disconnected. Tomorrow a friend is coming over with fork truck forks that bolt on to a tractor bucket. I will lift the pickup box off the frame with my lift and I drive out from underneath it. Then we'll attach the forks to my tractor bucket, set the pickup box on the forks, move it out of my shop and set it on the ground outside. I've bought trailer lights from NAPA to rig up so I can drive the Hummer over to the frame restorer's shop. Thought you guys might be interested; if not, I'll drop the posts.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
