Oil in the ignition coil

Found a lot of oil in the ignition coil, so much I couldn't see the spark plug... am I looking at replacing the vcg? Is it diy-able? [IMG][/IMG]

Yep... there is a DIY.

On that note, definitely replace the valvetronic gasket and the eccentric shaft sensor gasket. If your car has age on it and you have the funds for it, I'd replace the eccentric shaft sensor also.

Yes, it's totally doable. I tackled this job recently and it was not bad at all. You need some tools like a swivel head for a couple of tight corners but other than that, not bad at all.

These will help:

Also make sure you get the correct valvetronic motor gasket. I see you (the original poster) have a 2006 325, which has the magnesium valve cover. I too have this car, and it uses a different valvetronic motor gasket than the plastic valve cover models. Depending on where you order your parts, it might not be correctly listed. I ordered what the Rock Auto catalog said would fit and it turned out to be the wrong one. Pelican Parts and the other popular BMW/Euro online parts stores have the correct gaskets listed.
