suspension squeaks
when i sit in my car or get out of it i hear this squeaking sound coming from the suspension. 27,000 km's on this car, 16 months old. is it rust? salt? i have a service appointment in a month, should i wait a month or take care of it right away?
the video is not my car thank god, just to give you an idea of what the sound is like. (my squeak is not so bad). wow thats horrible. the squeaks i got on my lexus after swapping bushings to polyurethane wasn't even as bad as that. if it was my car, i'd definitely bring it to the dealer (if still under warranty) or my mechanic to check it out.

Apparently some cars has rattling/squeaking issues, solution is to replace some of the bushings on the car.

back to the OP, i think its the bushings as well as other members are having similar type issues with their suspension, are you lowered on aftermarket suspension or stock?

Had the same problem. In the rear it's usually the hand brake. In the front it was "dry bushings". They lubricated them and the front have been good since.

YES it is the hand break making this disturbing noise. Is this covered under warranty? cuz my hand break is weak as hell. I sometimes take off with the handbreak on, and it does nothing to slow me down.
I left my car all day at the dealership for them to change my tires and look at the squeaking sound. I can't believe they didn't check the handbreak to fix the damn noise! Unless this is not covered under warranty and they ignored it on purpose. fakk !~~!~#@ |

Take it to Otto's and see what they say.
I had a discolored xenon headlight and Elite did not want to change it under warranty and said it would cost ME $233 for the bulb and $106 to change it. I went to Otto's to see what they would say and they changed it under warranty without giving me a hard time whatsoever. It's worth a shot. I dealt with Sadia (service advisor) at Otto's... Quote:

I went to speak with Ottos abt the wheel finish and the guy said its all covered in a lease and if I want to buy the car then I should call them again abt it. |

on the e46 forum, one poster's cure was to drive 5-10 km's per hour with the handbrake engaged to get rid of the dust. i just may be crazy enough to try this today. i'll let you know how it goes.
=========== motha fugger, it really works! noise is significantly reduced. Last edited by NoKids; 04-25-2009 at 05:15 PM.. |
