The funny part is that I almost bought a g35 before my bmw and now I'm actually considering changing my car for a 2010+ g37 lol... so my opinion is not as biased as some would think
I'm actually curious of a bmw owner opionion that has the car, reliability side how are they compared to the e90? |

In terms of reliability the g37 blows the e90 out of the water. Ive put on about 5.5k -6k kms no hiccups just did an oil change for about 75 bucks which is a big price difference by itself. Modding the car seems a lot easier. But whatbi do enjoynis the exhaust note of the vq engine such an emotional exhaust in a good way. In terms of you thinking a bump from 255-290 hp will shave of .5 of a second is really optimistic as oppose to gain 30whp to a full header back exhaust+intake and tune. At the end of the day I like both cars both act and feel different.

still 30whp gain on a 210whp car isn't trivial either... even if heavy. Thanks for the feedback on the g, I actually like these cars, but not going to say I've lost my races just because people don't believe me. But that's exactly I'm looking for, something newer with less freaking "maintenance " to put it nicely and yeah that engine sounds so nice |

Thought it wasn't worth it if I don't enjoy the exchanges here I just won't respond anymore in the end what do I care what you believe, and please read my post again, again either trolling or half reading, I've said my auto is a mid 14's car, actually 14.4 if we would be to round correctly, a manual as I've mentioned in my post should be faster a .2-.3 would be reasonable by the better 60ft alone so actually I've implied that the 30whp would gain .2-.3

has anyone tried the Schrick cams? I've seen that some sites say N54 but that appears to be a typo. the part #s are on their site.. 10.6mm of lift is available.

I saw an email chain where Schrick said it was for valvetronic, non-direct injection motors. I can read some German but I don't have any contacts with Schrick unfortunately.
the question is, what other parts does it require? it will certainly require a lot of work with the DME.. |

sometimes, yeah. Often, they will require different shims, rockers, valve springs, hydraulic lifters, etc (depending on the motor and aggressiveness of the cam). The Schrick site only shows the cams so maybe they designed it to work with all stock valvetronic parts.
an extra 1mm of lift could potentially increase power by 10% which would be significant. I think one reason why most never get much more than a stock 330i is because it's already basically maxed out. |
