In need of a professional audio system wiring diagram

I'm in need of a professional(base or stereo system) head unit wiring diagram for my 2011, so I can tap in a line output converter. The base system doesn't come with an amp in the trunk, so I'm not sure where to get my signal from.

All diagrams I've found on this site or others have been for the hi-fi systems, which have a few more speakers and amps than mine has.

You did not mention the year of the car there are two variation's on the
ampless system. One where the parallel connection between the Front
Floors and Doors is made at the under seat speakers and another where
it's made in the Front door sills.
Sills before 09 and under seat speakers 2010 on I believe .
See the link for pre post 09 wiring at the bottom and see the base system gide for more
info.
System are named as follows
base system no amp called stereo
Hi Fi 6 channel amp is called Hi Fi option 676 also actually called premium system by BMW
Top Hi Fi 9 channel amp fiberoptic input with 9 channel amp called Logic 7 or Hk

Head unit may be named professional but it has nothing to do with the rest of the system in
all cases except the stereo system.

Hi there, you're right I did forget to mention the year. I updated the original post.
I have a little secret... It's a 2011 128i, not a 3 series. I'm here because the 1 series forum hasn't turned up any results
My 128 and a similarity equipped 328 should have the same radio.

They use the same three system througout most of the chassis lines.
Only some of the upper end cars use more exotic system's
The base system with no amp has been static with no changes for years.

Right on, thanks for that info.
Now any idea where I can find a diagram? I just need to know where to tap my line out from.
Would it be possible to trace the wires from the under seat speakers using a multi meter?

There are only 4 channels coming out of the Head Unit.
You must understand that the Front Floors and Door speakers are
wired in parallel. So Front Channels meet at the 4 wire connector
at the speaker under the seat.

The closest thing you will get to a wiring diagram for the base system
is the Alpine Retrofit Pdf. It talks about the wire coloring some where when
it describes spitting the connection for the front doors and floors.

Adding a sub or another amp will still get you a crappy system.

The links you've shared are really great, thank you very much.
Let me make sure I understand what you're saying:

1) Since the under seat speakers and door speakers are in parallel, they have same signal
2) the best way I can tie those signals into my LOC is to simply tap into the wires from the left and right under seat speakers.

Here's one thing I'm a little confused on, when you say "front Channels meet at the 4 wire connector at the speaker under the seat", do you mean that the wires for the front left and front right speakers are in the same four wire harness under a single seat?
Or do I need to tap into the right seat speaker for the right channel, and the left under seat speaker for the left?

Most all car stereo's have a front and right and left stereo channel as well
as Rear right and left rear channel the base stereo and Hi Fi are no different.

The head unit channels come in on the 4 pin connector on 2 pins and the other
2 pins carry it back to the doors.

The door and floor speakers are wired in parallel in the base system.
A line converter should not load down these Front channels if it has
a high enough immpedence. The method mentioned in the sub woofer
thread is a known to work solution.

If you are going to add better amp and speakers in the stock locations the under seat location
connector is the place to intercept the signal for the Front Speakers run it to and
amp then back to whatever you have put in .

The head unit as it comes from the factory barely has enough power to run the stock speakers.
There is a description about this in the links.
If you really want good sound you will need to do something similar to what is described in the
base audio guide. (supplied)
