Upgrading base stereo in 07 E92
I just purchased a 328i E92 and of course it has every option except logic 7 and I'm wondering what is the best way to go bout upgrading it. I know nothing about car audio and am looking to spend around $1k

You will have a hard time meeting the 1k number
But you can do something nice for about 1 to 1.5k if you can self install.
If you want to save your self a lot of anguish and hair pulling get a kit from these guys. http://www.musicarnw.com/page-2/ It includes everything you need and is pre wired and setup. the fyi thread below Since you are in Florida you might also want to get in touch with Technic who lives in Fort Lauderdale I believe.(he is and East Coast expert and makes the best stereo adapter harness for these he is also good at low cost recommendations) You do not want to go to a common stereo shop with these or even good ones that don't understand them. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=365866 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=407085 Last edited by ctuna; 09-11-2011 at 03:34 PM.. |

JL Audio XD600/6 $370 Technics harness $75 ( I think) Total 955 Add some wiring for power for amp, and some rcas etc And you are around your $1000 budget

But won't and aftermarket amp toast those OEM's
But won't and aftermarket amp toast those OEM's speakers
For the xd600/6 If you do the numbers and since the OEM's are 2 ohm you are delivering probably 5 times the power of the existing amp into cheap speakers. the math on this says you are about 100 watts rms on speakers that were running on maybe 20 rms for the under seats and around 15 rms for the door if even that. |

OP, we have full plug-and-play bolt-on upgrades that replace your front components, your underseat woofers, add an amp, and you don't have to cut a single wire in your car, and it all integrates with the stock wiring and head unit Shoot us an email off of our website and we will send you lots and lots of info on what we offer. Our Level One kits are in the price range you've stated. |
