This is an awesome collection of information! What a feat to take on BIGGNS

If anyone is interested, I may try to pull all the data for the E91s optioned with the M Sport package. Obviously this would include xDrive and automatic versions, in addition to RWD, and manual vehicles. But cannot guarantee I can figure it out. Maybe BIGGNS we chat about it.

Would be nice to see to see m sports broken down into color combos/drivetrains.

Anyone know how to determine how many specific color combos of e91s were made?

Sure, it'd be fun to know this data as well.

I got this data from Sicka inquiring about my White/Beige RWD AT M-Sport.

2009-2012 BMW 328i Touring US, RWD, Alpine White, Beige Dakota Leather: 167; 8 manual (zero M-Sport); 159 automatic (3 are M-Sport)

The rarest option on this car is option S2MEA - BMW alloy wheel, M double spoke 194. Installed on 80 out of 1,990 cars.

My car WAS 1 or 3. With the 6MT swap, now 1 of 1, .... albeit built.

Style 194 is the rarest option?
I see those wheels on e91 m sports more than anything else

Yeah, I thought that odd as well. Granted, I don't see many E9x M sports in person at all, but most I see online have 194s. Perhaps he meant the 193s?

Let's see: Out of 1,990 UT93s, only 150 came with the M Sport package. So if 80 of them came with the standard 17" 194Ms that means only 70 opted for the 18" 193Ms. That's nearly a 50/50 split but 194s are still more "common".

My guess would be more original owners who ordered 193s are still hanging on to their cars while the dealer-optioned cars with 194s are more frequently being re-sold in the market.

Bear in mind, Sick is just giving you the most rare option on your specific car, not all E91s in general. For instance, I have a UT93 as well and the most rare option on my car is 4MG - Glacier Silver Aluminum Trim, installed on 35 of 1,990 cars.

Also, we're just referring to RWD E91s here. These figures speak nothing to the M Sport coupes, verts and sedans out there.

Thank you Biggins and 4 Doors, this would be awesome! I have a LMB/Saddle Brown interior. It is unfortunately Auto and xDrive. It would be awesome to know how many others are out there! Looks like less than 50. I would guess somewhere around one of 10. Luckily it only has 70k on it so it's more than likely one of the very few low mileage examples.

This is interesting.. I hope there's a similar breakdown for E92 RWD with 6spd Manual transmission. Mine is an E92 manual RWD with M-sport option in LeMans blue. I wonder how many? cause I haven't seen one similar for 2 yrs that I've owned it

This is strictly an "E91 production numbers" thread.

Of course I'm biased, but LMB/Saddle is the best combo! Congrats

Sick told me mine is one of 9 RWDs (UT93) in this colorway so that's about 1/3rd of the total 28 RWD LMBs. Assuming that ratio holds, I'd guess around 15 of the 45 AWD (UU33) LMBs have a Saddle interior as well. Per the below quote, 20 of those 45 had a black interior. So, agree with your estimate, probably 1 of about 10-15 cars.

http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/show...postcount=1998

Most of these cars are over 100k miles at this point so way to keep the mileage low. I'm at only 53k right now, Covid and not commuting has really kept my car mint

Thanks BIGGINS!!

My 09 RWD 6MT is LCI ZSP. 1 of 64!!

Funny that you called it a unicorn. I refer to it that way to friends and they don't understand. That is the great thing about these, unicorns for some and just another old BMW to most.

My primary interest is with the RWD/manual version which is, in my opinion, the most engaging driving experience and also one of the rarest configurations to find.

I wanted to go a little bit further and create a table (like SickFinga did for the 335is) showing the different color combinations of RWD/6MT E91s produced. So, in my spare time I ran 430 VINs through the decoder and created the following charts. Enjoy!

Since these are all super-rare in their own right, I’d like to propose the following mythological naming convention going forward
6MT+RWD (428) = Pegasus
+ Sport package (149) = Unicorn
+M Sport package (48) = Alicorn (winged unicorn)
Bravo BIGGNS!

Strong work. Thanks for the heavy lifting and sharing.

Dumbass question (at some risk of hijack but seems quite on topic)- does the presence of sport seats on a 2006 e91 mean Msport or where they available as a stand-alone? The car (not mine) now has X1 M double spokes on it which look damn nice so not sure what orig wheel style was. The car is 6MT as well and a rare brown/beige combo.

Not a "dumb" question. The easiest and most accurate way to check would be a VIN Decoder. Try MDecoder and look up your VIN. It should give you a rundown of the seats, wheel style, etc.

AFAIK the seats were never a stand-alone option per-se in the US. There was the sport package, which got you the seats, steering wheel, and bigger wheels with stickier tires, and if RWD, the lower, stiffer suspension. Then there was M-Sport, which got you those mechanical bits plus the different front and rear bumpers and side skirts and a black headliner - M-Sport is just an appearance package on top of the sport package parts. So pretty easy to tell if it's an M-sport, but might as well use the VIN decoder to see what the car had originally as the previous poster suggested.

In 2011 when I ordered my car, IIRC it was $2K for sport or $4K for M-sport. I don't fit in the sport seats and New England roads are a poor fit for a lower and stiffer suspension and even bigger wheels, so I didn't get either one. Plus you lost the heated steering wheel. Of course now I wish I had ordered it!

Thanks for the detailed research (better than what I've seen on BaTrailer)

I guess I have 1 of 48: 2010 M-Sport, 6 speed, RWD with Lemans Blue/Saddle Brown 1 of 4?!?!? Original owner from Military sales build/purchase.

Awesome! Thanks for chiming in elfhearse Appreciate you bringing such a beautiful E91 into the world Pretty much how I would have built one if I had the foresight back then. Mine is basically the two-pedal twin of yours. Looks like you have manual, heated, Saddle seats??

Please add me to the queue of buyers should you ever decide to sell

Probably struggled with custom ordering as most of US GI's use USAA for banking and financing and they did not like odd ball ordering that some of us do.

Looks like we have our answer! 8 AWD Le Mans Blue/Saddle Brown E91s per the below post. Combined with the 9 RWD models that makes 17 total E91s in the best color combo ever

Thanks BIGGNS!

Would you be able to look up production numbers on manual e91's for the Canadian market?
