Underseat subs not working - Base system

Hi Guys

I bought a e93 330D a few months ago now and I love the car overall - great driving experience, enough power for what I need and looks amazing. The only thing that is letting it down for me is the sound system & some how I only noticed today after poking my head under the seat that the underseat subwoofers are not working.

My knowledge is fairly basic but have searched the forums and watched a fair few videos but wanted to get some help before I start ripping the car apart to try and fix the fault.

The system I have is the Base BMW Professional. From what I have read as there is sound coming from the front/rear speakers its unlikely to be the fuse? & as this is the poverty spec sound system I think I am right in saying there isn't an Amp as it draws power directly from the HU.

Are there any basic areas for me to check first that I might be missing?

Thanks in advance.

The front door speakers are wired in parallel with the
doors , no fuse.
The output of the whole system it terribly weak even the next
level Hi Fi system is pretty bad.

Hi - thanks for the reply.

I have read most if not all of those links at this point and know the Base system is pants and what my options are to upgrade but I want to get the underseat speakers working again before thinking about upgrading tbh.

I have had a look inside and both appear to be plugged in correctly so unsure what is going wrong considering all the other speakers are working fine. Before I go ahead and get some used replacements from eBay is there anything else you would suggest checking over or testing?

Thanks

Depending on the year of the Car and build date the parallel connection is made
either right at the under seat speaker connector or in the door sill.
If the previous owner modified the car there is a possibility they may
not be connected.
Use and Ohm meter to ohm them out or check the connection.
There was one case on there where a guy wondered why he
wasn't getting sound and it turned out there were no speakers
in some locations.

Unbolt the seat (4 torx), undo plastic covers (6 philips) and examine the enclosure/speaker... there is a joint/connector (either 2 or 4 wires) that powers them... while you are there, run a speaker cable down to the boot for later upgrade to an amp... as it will surely follow anyway... and do not buy any used other than L7 or Jehnert 8'' to skip the disappointment...

Hi guys

Turns out both subs were unplugged by the previous owner which explains the lack of sound.. I plugged them both back in and 1 is broken so will need to replace.

The one that did work however wasn't moving much air at all - I turned up the sound but its like they weren't even there. I know the base unit is crap but is it really THAT bad?

As I am going to have to buy at least 1 new sub is there any speakers I can just drop straight in to replace that are better than the OEM? or is it not worth replacing these speakers if I am not going to also install an amp etc?

say how much money is given to you for 2 speakers under the seats and only until there will you stop this audio upgrade

if you buy new aftermarket speakers without an amplifier it makes no sense not only basic is a horror to me all variants without an individual are a horror if you don't spend money just replace the speakers with such 2 hands for me and if they replace those on the front doors it will make a difference + and not those under the seats)

Yes it's that bad and next system up is pretty bad to especially if
you are expecting even normal bass.
It's like the under seats aren't even there.
