My wife is trying to buy a unit off ebay, its an eonon D6156. Ive read some post about it not being compatible with the Logic7. I am not sure if there is any HU that would be.
Any aftermarket headunit will work. I wouldnt recommend the Eonon though. You will also need need the following:

At least a 4-6 channel amp
Technic's logic 7 harness
connects2 harness http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/bmw-13-series-mini-steering-stalk-control-adaptor-phone-button-support-ctsbm0052-p-37997.html#.UvBHWqa9LCQ
Metra harness 71-9003
Most termination loop

There is only one that will interface with L7

There is only one that will interface with L7 and allow you to use
the L7 amp and that is the Dynavin N6 with the L7 fiberoptic adapter.
If you are changing out the amp as well I wouldn't exactly call that an Integration as the only thing that may be left is some of the speakers.

I'm not looking for 100% seamless integration from a single manufacturer. I want to simply install an aftermarket stereo into my vehicle that currently has L7. I was told I could:
  1. Relocate the factory HU to the trunk
  2. Purchase a separate amplifier to bypass the L7 amp

What is the parts list to achieve this bypass and how do you go about connecting the factory harnesses? I have zero desire to purchase a Dynavin unit.

Thanks!

some examples in the following list but not all are L7 .
The BMW325i advice in entry 23 are what you should use
for a guide basically.

Use the parts I listed above.

The metra harness plugs into the stock headunit. The connects2 harness is what you'll use to wire the new headunit.

If you are just keeping the stock headunit installed for dealer coding the only connections you need to make for it are power, ground, 2 can wires, and 2 fiber optic cables.

You can get power and ground from technics harness, from the battery, or you can extend the wires from the connects2 harness in the dash.

The 2 can wires need to be extended from the harness in the dash. You can solder and heatshrink your wires into the connects2 harness so you don't need to mess with any of the stock wiring.

For the 2 fiber optic cables use the 2 that were plugged into the stock amp for the headunit. Use the termination loop to connect the 2 fiber optic cables that are in the dash.

Garage List
HK Logic 7 System

Awesome information. It appears to be too much hassle to try to integrate but rather replace. One question though. will the factory HK Logic 7 speakers work with and aftermarket amplifier or should they be replaced as well?

Replace if you use and amp with lot of power or

Replace if you use and amp with lot of power or
for speakers in key spots like the front doors and floors.
The L7 speakers are suppose to be decent but not designed
for a lot of power.

Yes, I ended up purchasing a Dynavin unit before I sold the car: http://www.dynavin.com/products/n7_e9x.php

Whatever you do, don't buy an "Andrive" unit. Been there, done that: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1086070
